Online Master Degree Course
in Business Engineering
Lessons are accessible 24 hours,
7 days per week, constant asynchronous interactivity with teachers
integrated by Saturday morning meetings for each course (not mandatory).
THE FEATURES:
The programme will run
on-line by means of a particularly innovative software platform, which
allows the supply of courses with interactive modalities that reproduce the
academic atmosphere. Participants in the web mode will have 24/7 access to
lessons and exercises, but must also maintain the same rhythm of learning
and testing as their classroom counterparts. On-line students may wish to
attend in person lessons held by guest speakers, as well as the
demonstrations, tests and meetings within each module that are held on
Saturday mornings (attendance, however, is not compulsory).
Interactive sessions with
teachers, virtual classes and replies to questions sent via e-mail complete
the services offered. The web mode is particularly indicated for those
having heavy professional commitments that hinder a presence in class, but
who do not anyway wish to pass up a stimulating opportunity of very
high-level training. Participation in the web mode is also open to whoever
has to be abroad for long periods.
WHO IT IS FOR
The Program proposes to
prepare managers who are able to supply solutions to problems that arise in
strongly dynamic technological and marketing contexts and in which
creativity and leadership qualities must be married to the capacity to face
complex problems of a strategic, managerial or organizational nature. The
course is, therefore, directed at graduates in technical-scientific or
economic-social disciplines, business people, professionals, managers, and
middle managers from companies and public and private organizations who
wish to update their preparation in subjects related to business
organization and management.
WHAT WE OFFER
The programme evolves around
six appropriately interconnected competence areas, and has the aim of
integrating theoretical knowledge and direct application in the business
world.
The Master Program in Business
Engineering offers the unique opportunity of creating a long-lasting link
with the University of Tor Vergata and,in particular, with its Faculty of
Engineering.
Altogether, the programme
follows the approach of Management Engineering directed at transferring the
innovative methods and orientation toward creative problem solving that are
typical of engineering thought to the field of business organization and
management.
The teachers are the best
that each sector can offer, each with their own specialization, but all
with a common mental outlook. Participants in the Program, considered
partners rather than students according to the tradition of the
postgraduate courses at the Tor Vergata athenaeum, can enjoy plunging into
a modern university environment, created in line with established
international-level models, and sharing with it the numerous scientific and
professional national and international relationships. The most advanced
experiences and practices will be presented and discussed in class, also offering
the opportunity to participate in work groups effectively employed in the
field in research for new solutions to specific organizational and
management problems of businesses, public organizations and research
centres.
Participants will have access
to the structures of the school, and also to the seminars offered by the
teaching body and by national and international visitors.
The study environment allows
participants to make the best possible use of all previous experience and
competencies acquired by the participants.Learning one from another is just
as important as learning from the teachers, who encourage this type of
interchange with lessons and exercises conducted in a dynamic, creative and
interactive way. Students are also invited to invent and make proposals. In
this way, attendance at the Masters Degree becomes, for whoever is
effectively motivated, a creative and stimulating experience.
The Master Program in
Business Engineering offers, as well as the traditional level of
quality, numerous services derived from the experience and suggestions of
the participants in previous editions: didactic material (except for some
texts and case studies to acquire separately) available from the first day;
a discussion board and on line support for all; extracurricular activities
for specific in-depth work, not compulsory but of definite interest.
Such services are entirely
included in the subscription fee. There will also be social events to
facilitate integration among the participants and informal contact with the
teachers.
THE PROGRAMME
The programme evolves around
six appropriately interconnected competence areas, and has the aim of
integrating theoretical knowledge and direct application in the business
world.
The Fundamentals:
Engineering Economics
Accounting and Budgeting
Fundamentals of law
Organizational management and design
Mathematical methods in management (I)
Fundamentals of informatics
Knowledge management
This area aims at integrating
the participants, who may be heterogeneous as to training and work
experience, through learning modules that supply competence in fundamental
elements of economy and business organization, law, and informatics, as
well as mathematical tools.
General Management:
Management accounting
Business Planning
Project management
Company Information Systems
Financial Engineering
Marketing management
Operations Management
Supply chain management and logistics
Human resources Management
In the competitive
environment, characterized by high instability and speed of change, it has
become fundamental to possess competence for mastering he business in all
its forms: to that end, this area revolves around themes that range from
management control to logistics, passing through informatics systems and
operations management.
The Business and its Environment:
International cooperation strategies
International management
Management of innovation
Management of processes of technological transfer
The networked company
Commercial and taxation law
Portfolio choices
The success of a business and
its capacity to win are also tied to its capacity to react to threats and
grasp opportunities. This area, therefore, supplies the instruments and
competence to understand the dynamics that are characteristic of the
competitive environment of organizations, thus integrating the two internal
and external visions of the company.
The new Instruments:
Business Process Re-engineering
Mathematical methods in management (II)
Creativity in business
Leadership
The art and science of negotiation
The new economy of industrial systems
E-business management
New product development
Models of service systems
The profound changes that
have taken place in markets in the last few years have created a highly
unstable playing field which is in continual evolution for businesses,
which, today more than ever, must base their own competitive advantage upon
resources that are difficult to imitate and are highly idiosyncratic. The
success factors are changing rapidly away from technologies that now
cover the role of enabling commodity to people and their capabilities.
For that reason, this area aims to supply new instruments for business
management and governance, based on creativity, leadership, and techniques
for negotiation and conflict resolution.
Project Work
Specific study of a case with theoretical and practical relevance:
analysis, planning and simulation of alternative solutions
Participants will be placed
in company programmes with the aim of applying the competencies acquired
during the course to the identification and solution of specific emerging
problems.
Project work will be carried
out at the end of the course under the supervision of a university tutor
and will have an estimated duration of about three months. Project work
activity includes the drawing up of a final written report that will be
evaluated by the Program Faculty.
Company Internships:
Analysis of a company problem, definition, realization
and control of a solution strategy
With a view to completing the
training, participants will have the opportunity of access to an internship
activity that will allow them to enjoy direct experience either in one of
the participants in the Group of Excellence or at the organizations that
make a request during the year to our Placement Service. The involvement of
the intern will involve the setting-up and realization of a project of
interest to the host organization, under the supervision of university and
business tutors. Participation in the internship activity will be subject
to the passing of an individual interview and curriculum evaluation at the
business concerned.
As well as the contents of
the training offer just described, the Master Program in Business
Engineering offers the unique opportunity of creating a long-lasting link
with the University of Tor Vergata and, in particular, with its Faculty of
Engineering.
Altogether, the programme follows the approach of Management Engineering
directed at transferring the innovative methods and orientation toward
creative problem solving that are typical of engineering thought to the
field of business organization and management.
